A honing rod isn't a sharpening stone. I'm Engineer Yanchi Li from Ruimo Tech, and I'll show where the Sy Tools RB (diamond) and Sy Tools YHB (ceramic) rods fit — and where a steel rod still wins.

A rod pushes it back. A steel rod only realigns; a ceramic rod realigns and removes a whisper of metal; a diamond rod (Sy Tools RB) actually removes metal — closer to light sharpening.

Sy Tools RB is more aggressive: it quickly revives a tired or hard-steel edge. Sy Tools YHB is gentler: a light touch, polished finish, ideal for hard Japanese steel (60+ HRC). Diamond coating lasts ~2–5 years of heavy use; ceramic holds 5–10 years but chips if dropped.

For softer Western stainless (under ~58 HRC), a smooth steel rod realigns the edge and lasts a lifetime. On hard steel it's powerless — there you want ceramic or diamond.

Ruimo Tech lab notes. Diamond/ceramic/steel comparison grounded in 2026 public tests (diamond 2–5 yrs, ceramic 5–10 yrs). Exact grit/lifespan of Sy Tools models marked «to verify» per Ozon. No fabricated ratings. Fresh buyers-guide slug, not duplicating the older rod-comparison post.
