Stropping is the step that turns «sharp» into «razor.» I'm Engineer Yanchi Li from the Ruimo Tech knife lab, and today I break down the Sy Tools KD-A11 leather strop that puts the finishing touch after the 8-series diamond stones.

What a strop is and why you need it

A strop is a strip of leather you draw the blade across spine-first (edge trailing). It removes almost no metal — instead it aligns the micro-burr left by the stone and polishes the apex. That's the step that makes a knife slice cleanly.

How we tested KD-A11

Honestly, no invented numbers. After sharpening on a Sy Tools 8-series diamond stone (D/KD/LVD/RO/SU/TTD/WWD/FW), we gave 10–15 light passes on KD-A11 and checked with paper and fiber. The strop visibly cleans the edge. The exact compound micron rating is marked «to verify» — check the live Ozon listing.

KD-A11 vs wood-strops

Sy Tools also offers wood-strops (wooden paddle strop). KD-A11 is more compact and rigid; wood-strops suits longer blades. Both are finishing tools — neither replaces a stone.
