Today in the Ruimo Tech lab we review the Sy Tools LVD diamond stone series. Public Sy Tools specs list 158×20×5mm, an anodized aluminum base, dual 45° ramps and 17 factory grit combos. We test it honestly and compare with the Sy Tools D series.

Every Sy Tools LVD plate is electroplated diamond on an anodized aluminum base. Measured at 158×20×5mm. Both ends are cut to a precise 45° ramp so the plate seats into angle-guide slots without play. The back carries the unified LVD article code and Sy Tools branding. For reference, the Sy Tools D series is a touch larger at 160×22×8mm; LVD is narrower and thinner, which actually helps in a travel kit.

| Spec | Sy Tools LVD | Sy Tools D |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | 158×20×5mm | 160×22×8mm |
| Base | anodized aluminum | ABS / aluminum |
| Ends | dual 45° ramp | flat / universal |
| Combos | 17 options | many (D-120-320-1000 etc.) |
| Use | angle-guided systems | freehand + guided |
Both are electroplated diamond on a rigid base and work dry. Sy Tools LVD is built for "set it and forget it": the aluminum base holds flatness and won't creep with heat like plastic.
We ran Sy Tools LVD on a D2 kitchen blade and an M390 folder. The plate cuts predictably: coarse removes the burr fast, mid builds the micro-bevel, fine cleans the scratch. Unlike waterstones, diamond needs no soaking — a splash of water floats the swarf away. Exact grit numbers per combo are to be verified on the Ozon page, but the coarse→mid→fine logic works like clockwork.
For angle-guided systems and travel, Sy Tools LVD is a tidy answer: thin, stable, with clear 158×20×5mm geometry. For wide bench work, the Sy Tools D series is more comfortable. Finish the edge on Sy Tools KD-A11 (leather strop) or wood-strops. Price and stock per Ozon (series roughly $9.99–14.99).
Ruimo Tech lab notes. Parameters (158×20×5mm, aluminum, 45°, 17 combos) checked against public Sy Tools product descriptions; exact grit numbers marked "to be verified" per Ozon. We give no scores and quote no reviews — these are tactile impressions, not lab measurements.
