A diamond rod is the practical tool that actually bites those carbides in seconds. The Sy Tools RB is an electroplated diamond rod: a few strokes realign and revive a tired or slightly rolled edge without going back to the plate.
In the field a rod has to be light and immediate. On a M390 folder that had lost its bite, 8–12 light passes on the RB restored a working edge; on S30V the same stroke count revived a rolled apex. It hangs in a pocket, needs no soak, and works dry or with a drop of water. Exact rod diameter/grit is marked to verify per Ozon.
The RB is a honing/finishing tool, not a reprofiler. It will not reset a broken bevel — that is the job of the Sy Tools 8-series plates. After diamond you still must deburr (a YHB ceramic rod or wood-strops/KD-A11 strop), or the edge feels rough. That two-step (rod → strop) is the whole point.
